Sara’s Artist Statement

"At times, people have overlooked photography as an artform and question the value of digital art. I strive to make images using photographs and digital technology to push the boundaries of photography and explore the limits of technology and my imagination. I like to enhance the world, brighten colors, and sometimes create the surreal.

Photographs and paintings are my way of showing people how I see things or how I might like them to be. Special mediums allow me to slip in and alter reality to create something unexpected or create a mood that appreciates the subject for its beauty.

I like subjects that hold up well as strong black and white images, or have vivid color, shape, and texture. Using landscapes, children and pets as subjects gives me things that inspire me to think about as I photograph and paint. Another approach to the creative process is creating abstracts through close-ups of plants, flowers, water, architecture, etc...
